Hello Beautiful Black Women of Princeton!

I

am very excited to welcome you to another year of community-building with The Standard. As the inaugural convener of the group, I hope to continue offering administrative support and guidance to a team of phenomenal Black women undergrads and alums, who work collaboratively to respond to the expressed needs of their fellow Black women. The Standard is a warm space for intergenerational connection. A place where we can all let our hair and our guards down...where we can all just “be.”

One of the many lessons I’ve learned as a member of The Standard is that being a strong Black woman does NOT mean suffering in silence...it does NOT mean embodying an “I don’t care” mentality and it does NOT mean being there for everyone but yourself. Being strong...and Black...and a woman in this world means nurturing the caring spirit within ourselves and each other, and embracing the complex, kind, loving, funny, healing, and joyful people that we are! Please join us and feel free to share your full selves with the group.
